Leading Scandinavian supplier Janex has won a contract with Trust Housing Association to supply a total of 750 timber windows and timber alu clad windows and some glazed patio door-sets to five major refurbishment projects across Scotland. Most of the buildings being refurbished are small sheltered housing units and cottages for the elderly, including an impressive three storey site in Stockbridge, on the edge of Edinburgh’s new town. The other projects are at Thornliebank and Carmunnock, Glasgow; Thornhill in Dumfries, Port Ellen and Bowmore on the Scottish island of Islay famous for its whisky brand.
Janex is well known for supplying products which deliver maximum Eco points for sustainability, and has a long history of working with registered social landlords. Trust Housing Association is a long established registered social landlord, and has a stock of 2400 homes in Scotland, providing rented accommodation and some shared ownership for elderly people, families and others with a housing need.
Sean Gillespie, property operations manager at Trust HA said; “The Janex alu clad window was chosen for its high quality, longevity and good value for money. We recognise that a Norwegian product is able to withstand the vagaries of the Scottish weather particularly in some of the island locations where we have sheltered housing projects.”
The Janex alu clad window, has a clip on aluminium cladding, RAL coated, which makes it easier for maintenance of the timber components, and does not need regular painting. The aluminium cladding protects the timber frames and extends their life.
Janex, one of Scandinavia’s finest producers of high performance timber windows and composite doors for the UK market, is the first to achieve both Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification and PEFC (the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) on all products for customers. This is proving attractive to ambitious developers and registered social landlords achieve high Eco Points in the Code for Sustainable Homes. Janex products are also accredited by the Police Initiative Secured by Design, and certified by testing body TRADA in its Q Mark scheme for high performance and security.
Janex has always been at the forefront of product development in Scandinavia, and its standard products achieve extremely low U-values for thermal efficiency, down to 1.3W/m2K on tilt and turn timber windows, and as low as 1.4W/m2K on timber canopy windows. Windows can be made to order with a U-value as low as 0.8W/m2K. These are made from high quality timber from the Baltic states, sourced from sustainable forests, and double or triple glazed.
Founded in 1992, by Norwegian Jan Skaara, the firm is headquartered in Egersund, Norway with offices in the UK in London and Falkirk. Product range includes timber windows, alu-clad timber windows, composite doors, patio, french and balcony glazed doors.
