EARN MORE ECO POINTS WITH JANEX PRODUCTS

The new BRE Green Guide published May 2008 measures the environmental impact of building materials and gives them a green rating from A – E.

E has the highest impact on the environment, and the Code for Sustainable Homes has minimum requirement D. Eco Homes also uses the Green Guide to assess the level of credits that can be generated by different window types. This guide will help those who need to assess the environmental impacts of materials they intend to use in their buildings.

The overall ratings for windows takes into account embodied energy used in the manufacture of products, Global Warming Potential, ozone depletion, waste, water pollution – measured during the manufacturing production process, as well as the more obvious  - use of raw materials from sustainable sources, effect on environment of disposal, U-values of product in use etc. The window products are subjected to Life Cycle Assessment – from the extraction of the raw timbers and components such as preservatives, hinges, ironmongery and glass, through to methods of disposal. It’s obvious that disposal of timber has a different effect on the environment than disposal of PVCu products. All these regulations are not new to Janex – we have been doing this for the lifetime of our company on all our window and door products.

Janex was founded in 1992 as a supplier partnership to bring high quality Scandinavian timber windows and doors, in large volumes, to the UK construction market. We specialise in timber windows, alu-clad windows, and composite doorsets, manufactured from high quality pine grown in sustainable forests. R&D is an ongoing process throughout all the 8 factories involved in production, and products are manufactured to the very highest standards to meet and exceed testing and certification in Norway and Sweden.

Headquartered in Falkirk, Scotland, Janex has offices in London and Egersund Norway. The sales and after sales team work throughout the UK to support clients and projects and advise architects and buyers on the specification of products best fit for purpose.  Janex has an extensive track record, working with construction companies, developers, and local authorities. Projects are nationwide including the cities of Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham, Leicester, Cambridge and London.
