£7m HEALTH CENTRE GETS JANEX WINDOWS

Janex supplied alu-clad windows to the biggest community health centre of its type in northern Scotland at Elgin for developers Springfield. The grey finished alu-clad windows are extremely low maintenance which is important in this lease back contract. They are manufactured from Scandinavian timber and give low u-values at 1.4 w/m2k, which makes the new building heat efficient.

The new build project Glassgreen Centre, was officially opened by Scottish Health Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP.   Positioned in the centre of a large development in New Elgin, the 30,000 sq ft centre is for mixed use, delivering integrated health and social care services. It includes dental surgery, pharmacy, physiotherapy, as well as GP surgery for 11,400 patients, social work offices, minor surgery unit, podiatry, chiropody, speech therapy and dietician.  The building was designed by Mackie Ramsay Taylor of Aberdeen.  A spokesperson from Springfield said: “Springfield Properties is committed to using the best materials in order to meet our high quality standards. All the components used to construct the Glassgreen Centre had to meet the highest criteria; Janex windows achieved that.”

Janex can achieve a U-Value of 0.70 W/m2K for opening sashes and fixed windows calculated in accordance with BS EN 10077-1.This level is better than the current passivhaus level which is 0,8W/m2K. “The windows for this project had to achieve a U-value at 1.4 W/m2k and our new highly insulated window construction is becoming more and more popular to achieve the best Codes in the Code for Sustainable Homes.  Windows are manufactured in Norway from high quality Scandinavian timber from the sourced from sustainable forests, “says Brian Davie,  sales manager Scotland, Janex.
